THE Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) will have a new warden today.

Retired Chief Insp. Reynaldo Valmoria formally took his oath before Gov. Hilario Davide III yesterday morning.

Before applying for the post, Valmoria served the Philippine National Police for 32 years. Valmoria’s last assignment before retirement was in Siquijor, where he served as head of the Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Branch.

Valmoria was in the limelight when he filed a complaint against former Siquijor governor Orlando Fua Jr. after the latter interfered and delayed the arrest of a barangay captain caught selling shabu there.

Earlier this year, the Sandiganbayan found Fua guilty of obstruction of justice and punished him by perpetually disqualifying him from running from public office.

Valmoria is the younger brother of retired police general Carmelo Valmoria, who served as Cebu Provincial Police Office director. (JKV)
