THE Skeptron Alumni of Cebu (SAC) East Branch, an Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) alumni group of professionals, conducted a medical mission and social outreach in a remote island of Caubian, Lapu-Lapu City on April 24, 2021.

The island barangay of Caubian, one of the city’s 11 island barangays, lies northeast of Olango Island, and is near Calituban Island of Talibon town, Bohol.

SAC overall chairman Omar Sasing, assistant chairman Charles Parrotina and organizer Washington Yap led the distribution of medicines, vitamins and school supplies to island residents and their children.

SAC members first organized and clustered residents in small groups to maintain health and safety protocols before starting the event.

Adults and children, 130 of them, got free over-the-counter medicines and vitamins.

Optometrists examined those in need of eye checkup. Then they distributed free reading glasses to 150 beneficiaries.

SAC also donated a projector set to Caubian public school.

The alumni group then distributed 100 school bags, school supplies and gifts to 100 children.

With the help of Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, volunteer doctors and nurses assisted the SAC members in their medical and social outreach.

Members of SAC East professionals and Rho Alpha Chapter also provided medical support.

Sta. Rosa Hospital chief Dr. Joel Semblante, his nurse wife Jingle Semblante and optometrist Lord Anthony Gusain also provided medical attention to the island residents.
