WHEN representatives from the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) went to the Sawang Calero Police Station in Cebu City on Tuesday morning, April 6, 2021, the “secret jail” where three women were allegedly abused by policemen could no longer be found.

Two of the victims accompanied by CHR representatives pointed to the location of the secret jail in the police station where they were abused. The area is now a storeroom for tanks of liquefied petroleum gas and other things.

One of the victims said that she was confined in the secret jail for three days without charges filed against her. Two of the victims were allegedly robbed while the other was allegedly brought to a motel where she was raped.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
