THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will deploy more personnel to the Cebu IT Park in Barangay Lahug following the increase in the number of snatching incidents in the area.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO’s deputy director for administration, said they allocated more personnel at Cebu IT Park to secure the peace and security of workers there now that the 2022 elections is over.

Parilla’s statement came after a video showing a snatcher victimizing a man at Cebu IT Park went viral on social media.

The snatcher was caught on video taking something from the man’s bag.

Local police said they have received numerous complaints from employees working at business process outsourcing firms at Cebu IT Park that have fallen victim to snatchers.

Parilla said the number of snatching incidents increased after the city was placed under Alert Level 1.

Parilla said they have already ordered all police stations within the city to be on alert for any criminal elements. He also asked the city’s police chiefs to focus their personnel against petty criminals.

Parilla said they will also assign police cars that will patrol Cebu IT Park.
