A SMALL bag containing suspected shabu worth P27,000 never made it to its buyer after it was found by a street sweeper in Sogod town, Cebu on Saturday dawn, Sept. 21, 2019.

The street sweeper, whose identity was not disclosed by police for his personal safety, was reportedly cleaning in Barangay Poblacion when he made the discovery.

When he realized what it contained, he immediately turned the bag over to Barangay Poblacion Councilor Alfonso Lumapas. Lumapas brought the bag to the police station.

Lt. Harley Silay, Sogod police chief, told Superbalita Cebu that he plans to check security cameras in the area where the bag was found to determine its owner.

He believes the owner of the bag was supposed to sell the shabu and unwittingly dropped it.

“May na lang gane nga ang nakapunit manilhigay nga gihatag sa konsehal ug na hatud dinhi sa amo (It was a good thing that the bag was picked up by the street sweeper and turned over to authorities),” Silay said.

The police officer said they will try to determine the source of the illegal drugs based on the packaging.

The drugs were placed in long plastic packs, he said. (from BBT of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
