Taxi driver robbed, killed

A TAXI driver succumbed to stab wounds during a robbery incident around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 on Geonzon Street, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Staff Sergeant Ador Bacalso of Mabolo Police Station-4 identified the victim as Edilberto Laurito Manulat, 35, of Barangay Lawaan, Danao City but a native

of Claver City, Surigao Del Norte.

Bacalso said that on Tuesday dawn Manulat was flagged down by the suspect identified as Albert Toradio Torregosa, 36, of Barangay Suba, Cebu City.

But upon reaching Geonzon Street, the already-wounded Manulat opened the car door beside him and asked for help.

Two people who witnessed the incident immediately went to Apas barangay hall and asked help from barangay tanods Manuel Puno and Espiridion Kwan.

Puno and Kwan immediately responded and caught the suspect inside the taxi when they arrived at the scene.

The taxi driver was brought to the hospital but was declared dead by attending physician.
