A WOMAN is now in police custody after she was placed under citizen’s arrest inside the Dolor’s Mini Mart in Barangay Poblacion Ward II in the southern town of Minglanilla, Cebu on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Suspect Marites Manulat Labador, a 48-year-old resident of Barangay Tuboran, Danao City in northern Cebu, was allegedly caught shoplifting by the store’s owner, 27-year-old Bryan Leyson Adlawan, and his employee, 23-year-old Junrie Asibes Enabloy,

Senior Master Sergeant Junel Ater of the Minglanilla Police Station said that based on their initial investigation, Adlawan and Enabloy accosted Labador while she was about to leave the store.

When they checked the disposable bag that she was carrying, they found assorted coffee products with a total worth of P798 inside.

“The owner was wondering why the suspect kept on returning to the aisle where the coffee products were on display. So he decided to check,” Ater said in Cebuano.

Labador later confessed to police that she would go around the province to steal in different stores.

However, Ater said they don’t believe that she operates alone, which is why they will dig deeper into her background. (GPL / PJB)
