Third bridge contractor gets to use City lot in Ermita

THE Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV) can now proceed with the construction of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) after the City Council authorized Mayor Tomas Osmeña to sign the deed of usufruct to use a City property in Barangay Ermita.

The viaduct component of the CCLEX project, commonly known as the third bridge project, will occupy a portion of Lot 4, Block 31.

Francisco “Bimbo” Fernandez, the mayor’s executive assistant, said the City is allowing CCLEX to use the area as part of its commitment to support the project.

The small multi-purpose office owned by the City that stands on the lot will be demolished, he said.

Under the joint-venture agreement that the City entered with CLJV, the former will allow possession and use of public lands as may be required by the CCLEX project.

The City will also be responsible for providing the right of way of the CCLEX project on public land, including all incidental costs required in removing and clearing structures and resettling occupants, if there are any.

The third bridge will connect Cebu City to Cordova town in Mactan Island.

The CCLEX project is expected to be completed by 2021. RVC
