2 cops from NegOr positive for illegal drug use

TWO police officers assigned in Negros Oriental were found positive of illegal drug use during separate random drug tests conducted between June 20 to 29, 2019.

The two police officers who were found positive of illegal drug use were Staff Sgt. Ruel Sinag of the Siaton Police Station and Corporal John Karl Niaga of the Mabinay Police Station.

Both were found positive of illegal drug use during the first drug test conducted by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) Central Visayas and confirmatory test done at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 laboratory.

The two officers were part of two batches of personnel who were underwent random drug tests last month.

Sinag was found positive during an initial random drug test conducted on 123 police officers assigned in five municipal police stations in Negros Oriental.

While Niaga was found positive during an initial random drug test conducted on 210 Drug Enforcement Unit members assigned in various police stations in Negros Oriental.

Separately, Police Regional Office-Central Visayas director Debold Sinas said he already Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) director Raul Tacaca to investigate Sinag and Niaga and find out who are their sources of illegal drugs.

Sinas said the two police officers were already disarmed and will undergo investigation, evaluation and summary hearing proceedings before the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) 7. (WBS)
