THE University of the Philippines Cebu (UP Cebu) Creative Writing Program (CWP) is organizing a three-part event called “Pundok Katitikan: Conversations about Creative Writing” at the university’s Jose Joya Gallery, from 5 to 8 p.m. The first event happened last Oct. 24. The second event will be on Wednesday, Nov. 14, and the third one will be on Dec. 1

All three parts of the event will include talks from distinguished Cebuano writers about the state of Cebuano literary publishing, an open forum and a literary reading from members of UP Cebu’s creative writing student organization, Tinta.

The Oct. 24 event was attended by prominent Cebuanos in the literary art scene. The speakers were SunStar Cebu’s Josua S. Cabrera, Erik E. Tuban and Johanna Michelle Lim, with event moderator Karla Quimsing.

Guest speakers for the Nov. 14 “pundok” will be members of the Women In Literary Arts Inc.

CWP coordinator Marie Rose Arong said this is UP Cebu’s way of telling the public that UP Cebu will be offering a Master’s Degree program on Creative Writing after a few years. (S)
