THE Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has urged local government units (LGUs) to revise and add information on their profile as these can be useful for the Capitol in improving its basic services.

During a regular session on Sept. 23, 2019, the PB passed a resolution urging cities, municipalities and barangays to update or formulate their profile covering important data that will be consulted in policy making and development of basic services. The LGUs can provide information related to health and sanitation, solid waste, environment, traffic and disaster.

The data will be used to create programs for peace and order, tourism, environmental conservation, educational research, commercial activities and other lawful endeavors.

Sixth district PB Member Thadeo Jovito Ouano filed the measure. He heads the committee on public safety, peace and order and dangerous drugs abuse prevention.

“Such profile and other relative data not prohibited by the Data Privacy Law, or if prohibited but with certain requirements/exceptions must be supplied to any person upon request free of charge or with a minimal fee for its reproduction copies cost as provided in their revenue code, if any,” reads a portion of the resolution.

Ouano said updating or formulating a profile is in accordance with the Local Government Code, which provides that “every local government unit shall exercise the powers expressly granted, those necessarily implied there from, as well as powers necessary, appropriate or incidental for its efficient and effective governance, and those which are essential to the promotion of the general welfare.” (RTF)
