A MOTORCYCLE-FOR-HIRE driver and watchman from a mountain village in Cebu City was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City earlier Tuesday, October 9.

Police Officer 1 June Zamora, a homicide investigator of the Talisay City Police Station, said witnesses in the area initially thought a tire blew out from one of the motorcycles traveling.

Witnesses told police officers that Roger Labajo, 47, was reportedly driving his red motorcycle when an explosion was suddenly heard from his direction.

But they were surprised to see Labajo lying on the road, with a single gunshot wound on his head. Labajo died instantly.

Zamora said a .45 caliber pistol may have been used to kill Labajo after an empty shell was found in the crime scene.

Aside from working as a habal-habal driver, Labajo also works as a tanod in Barangay Sinsin in Cebu City prior to his death, Zamora said.

Police are still trying to determine a motive behind the murder. (JKV)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
