Wednesday is “Health and Wellness Day” in Talisay City

Benjie B. Talisic

THE Talisay City Council has approved an ordinance declaring every Wednesday “Health and Wellness Day.”

For half a day every Wednesday, the City Government will offer free manicures, pedicures and haircuts, among others, to persons with disability (PDWs) and senior citizens at the Poblacion Park in Barangay Poblacion.

It will also offer free zumba classes.

“Senior citizens and PWDs who want to avail themselves of these services, including facials, can do so as long as they present valid IDs,” Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. said in Cebuano.

The program, which is part of the City’s “Aksyon Agad” program, is his administration’s way of recognizing residents who are elderly or have handicaps.

Gullas pointed that these sectors of society were like prisoners at the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, unable to leave their homes because of the lockdown and for fear of getting the dreaded disease. (BBT)
