A 65-YEAR-OLD woman was rushed to the hospital after she was stabbed by a 14-year-old girl who robbed her of her cash on Thursday noon, October 13, 2022, in Purok 7, Barangay Poblacion Ward, Minglanilla town in southern Cebu.

Police identified the victim as Lorita Estal and the suspect as Lorelei (name withheld for being a minor), of Barangay Inayagan, Naga City.

Estal sustained seven stab wounds in the body and was brought to Minglanilla District Hospital, but later transferred to Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay City for further treatment.

She is now in stable condition.

Lorelei was later rescued in a follow-up operation around 4 p.m. at the house of her boyfriend in Barangay Tinaan, Naga City.

Police Staff Sergeant Mark Rosaroso of Minglanilla Police Station said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that they were able to recover from the suspect only P10,000 of the P35,000 cash that she took from the victim and the latter's cellphone.

Based on their investigation, Rosaroso said Estal had known Lorelei since she is a classmate of her granddaughter.

On Thursday, she entered the house of the victim and grabbed her shoulder bag containing cash and other items.

During a scuffle, the suspect got a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim with it.

The victim was able to run out of the house to ask help, while the suspect fled.

Lorelei, who police said was known to use rugby, was already turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the proper disposition of her case. (GPL, TPT)
