A 69-YEAR-OLD woman was injured after she was attacked by her 37-year-old son inside their house in Barangay Ilihan, Toledo City, on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2022.

Lieutenant Jec Seares, deputy chief of police of Toledo, identified the victim as Ambrosia Villarin.

Seares said the victim was cooking food for their breakfast past 5 a.m. Wednesday when her son, Larry, approached her and asked for a stick of cigarette.

When she refused, Larry got mad and hit her left shoulder with an ax.

Ambrosia's other son went to her rescue to save her from further harm.

The victim was brought to Barangay Ilihan health center for treatment.

Police arrested the suspect in their house around 8 a.m. of the same day.

The suspect is believed to be suffering from a mental disorder based on the statement of his mother.

The victim is still waiting for the result of her medico-legal examination so she could file a case against the suspect, who is under the custody of Toledo police.

The suspect will possibly face charges for attempted parricide. (GDC)
