I AM very sad to hear the news of the death of former senator Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. I used to live in Sambag I in the late 70’s and early 80’s. In our neighborhood were some of the staunch PDP-Laban leaders. I always see them with sir Nene and the late Inday Nita Cortes-Daluz passing by our narrow alleys there on their way to the DYRF, which was then at the USC Main building.

I always admire the man, his bravery in the face of danger, especially during the dangerous times under the Marcos dictatorship.

I’ve been following him and even voted for him when he ran for vice president with Jovito Salonga running for president. I mourn for his passing. (By Sam Gorgonio, Cebu City)
