Tell it to SunStar: Incentive to stay

IT'S good news for nurses who are working in hospitals and other medical facilities operated by the Cebu Provincial Government.

The Provincial Board recently approved a proposed ordinance allowing the Province to raise their salaries.

Entry-level nurses will now receive P32,053, instead of P22,316. Some will receive as much as P55,799 a month.

This is still far less what they will receive if they work overseas, but it’s a far-cry from the average rate of P10,000 that local private hospitals pay them.

Perhaps, this will encourage more nurses to work here where their family and friends are.
