THREE Cebuano runners are all set to represent the country in the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2019 in Thailand on June 9, 2019.

Elite long distance runners Prince Joey Lee, Azlan Pagay and Ruffa Sorongon have touched down in Thailand together with the rest of the members of the 7-Eleven Team on Friday, June 7.

Lee will run the 21-kilometer distance, while Pagay and Sorongon are both doing the full marathon.

The 7-Eleven Team is composed of 15 runners from different parts of the country. These runners had the fastest times in the 7-Eleven Run Series held simultaneously in Manila, Cebu and Davao last February.

Cebu had four qualifiers but Mary Joy Tabal couldn’t make it to the Phuket Marathon. Tabal is focused on her training for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, which will be hosted by the Philippines.

Lee was impressive in the qualifying race clocking in 1 hour, 22 minutes and 22 seconds to get the men’s fastest time in three participating places.

Pagay and Sorongon ran the 32K distance in the 7-Eleven Series. They choose to run the full marathon in Thailand since there’s no 32K distance.

Pagay clocked 1:56:53 and Sorongon timed in 2:22:01 in the 32K race.

The 7-Eleven Team traveled from Manila to Kuala Lumpur then Kuala Lumpur to Thailand. RSC
