Aguilar, Miranda rule May bowlfest

SENIOR bowler Inday Aguilar bucked a slow start to win the May Bowler of the Monthly (BOM) crown in the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) Friday Group Tournament at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center on Friday, May 17.

Aguilar, a 41-handicapper, finished the five-game series with a total score of 1,049. She beat fellow senior bowlers Baby Bacon and Ester Francisco, who both scored 955 good for second and third places.

Cynthia Uybengkee took fourth place with a score of 911 and Johna Calipay was at fifth place with 837.

Aguilar scored 163 and 185 in the second and third games to gain control after trailing in the opening game with 148. She scored 179 and 169 in the final two games to secure the win.

In the men’s division, Micmic Miranda came up with another solid performance after winning the weekly title two weeks ago. This time, Miranda scored 1,082 to rule the monthly tournament.

Jaime Uy bagged second place with a score of 1,038, while Terrence Willams snagged the third spot with 1,037.

The 15-handicapper Miranda had a prolific start of 226 in the first game. He followed it up with 192 and 171 in the next two games, before finishing off with scores of 203 and 215.

Uy, a 25-handicapper, had scores of 161, 181, 225, 168 and 178.

Joseph Yu and Roland Bantilan finished within the top five with total scores of 1,018 and 1,014, respectively. (RSC)
