Fresh off winning her very first International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women's championship, Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala opened another competition in rousing fashion as she stunned the second-seeded Mirjam Bjorklund, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the W15 Manacor ITF Rafael Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour in Mallorca, Spain on Wednesday.

This latest victory by the 15-year old netter comes on the heels of her title win in the first leg of this very same tournament. Eager to not rest on her laurels, Eala came out firing to take the first set before Bjorklund, a 22-year old who has six ITF titles across her name, rallied to force a decider with a dominant second set victory.

However, Eala, the Filipina phenom who is now ranked 1190 and 1670 in the WTA and ITF singles rankings, respectively, kept her wits about her in the third set to pull off the victory.

Eala is seeking to replicate her conquest in the first leg where she won the $15,000 prize despite being the youngest competitor in the field. (JNP)
