CEBUANO welterweight James Bacon will lock horns with unbeaten American Blair Cobbs in the undercard of the Golden Boy Promotions show headlined by Jaime Munguia vs. D’Mitrius Ballard on April 23, 2021 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas, USA.

The 30-year-old Bacon has won three straight fights since moving his camp to the US under the guidance of Cuban coach Osmiri “Moro” Fernandez in Miami, Florida.

Bacon, a former ALA Boy, fought twice in 2020 and once this year despite the breakout of Covid-19. He knocked out Gonzallo Dallera in the second round in his US debut on Oct. 17, 2020. He followed it up with a second round knockout of Roque Junco a month later and then beat Ramon Sena by unanimous decision on Jan. 30, 2021.

Cobbs should be Bacon’s stiffest opponent aside from Irish Darragh Foley, who beat him by unanimous decision in 2019.

Bacon is 6-1 since coming out of retirement in 2019. He quit boxing back in 2012 and decided to give boxing another shot in 2019, this time under Sanman Promotions.

Cobbs, on the other hand, has been very impressive thus far in his career. He has held the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) light welterweight and welterweight belts.

Cobbs is coming off a successful title defense of his NABF welterweight belt with a split decision over Samuel Kotey Neequaye.

Bacon has a respectable record of 26-4 with 17 knockouts, while the 31-year-old Cobbs is 14-0-1 with nine knockouts. (EKA)
