Borres blasts hometown decision

Sunnexdesk

TONIX Borres settled to draw with Mark Balaba after three rounds of MMA action in one of the featured fights of “Iligan Beatdown 3” on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at the La Salle Academy Gym in Iligan City. One judge scored it 10-9 for Borres, the other had it 10-9 for Balaba and the third judge saw it as a 9-9 draw. Borres, however, felt that he did enough to win the fight. “It was a hometown decision,” Borres told SunStar Cebu. “It was clear that I won.

I had more takedowns and had control. I caught him with a triangle in the second round but he was saved by the bell.” Borres, who’s a fighter and a trainer at JB Fitness Center, is now 5-1-1, while the hometown bet Balaba is 8-3-1. “It depends with them if they want a rematch. I was the clear winner. He was their bet. That’s maybe why he got the hometown decision (from one judge). I’ll move on and focus on my preparation for Dumau on Oct. 19 and 20.” (EKA)
