Cebuano forward Leonard Santillan has joined forces with Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 standouts Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol as well as Troy Rike to represent the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines in the 2020 season of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President’s Cup.

Santillan, who is the pride of Lapu-Lapu City, is currently the sixth-ranked 3x3 player in the Philippines and he has powerhouse teammates backing him up in the first-ever professional 3x3 league in the country. Munzon is the country’s best 3x3 player while Pasaol and Rike come highly-ranked as well.

The four actually teamed up to hoist the championship in the Jakarta 3x3 International Invitational Challenge 2019.

In the local league, the four have clashed many times with Munzon and Rike carrying the colors of Pasig while Pasaol and Santillan played for Balanga.

Now as teammates, they are considered to be one of the favorites in the professional league that is set to kick off on October 2 at the Inspire Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

They will have plenty of competition in front of them with Gapan Chooks boasting of Karl Dehesa, Chris de Chavez, Franky Johnson and former pro Chico Lañete.

10 other teams are competing in the five-leg circuit. These are Porac-Big Boss Cement, Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards, Zamboanga Peninsula Valientes, Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors, Bacolod Master Sardines, Palayan City Capitols, Bicol Volcanoes, Sarangani Marlins and the Val City Classic.

The 12th team has yet to be announced by league commissioner Eric Altamirano. (JNP)
