Darrell Menina not playing for UC Webmasters next season

THE University of Cebu’s lead guard Darrell Shane Menina would no longer be returning to the Webmasters in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball tournament.

Immediately after UC lost by a hairline, 75-76, to the three-time defending champions University of the Visayas, the 22-year-old playmaker posted his farewell to his teammates and the school.

“I had always believed in you guys and you never disappointed me. Thank you again for all the memories. You are the best team members ever! God bless you all,” said Menina.

UC was seeking to put an end to a title drought that goes all the way back to the 2011 Cesafi season. The Webmasters were poised to do so after clinching a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals but it was not enough as UV beat them two times in a row to send them packing.

Even without his scoring and playmaking, Menina expressed confidence that UC would do well in the seasons to come.

“Heads up! Better days are coming! Thank you UC,” said Menina.
