ANOTHER Filipino fighter is slated in the undercard of Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming fight in the US this Aug. 22, 2021.

Unbeaten Pinoy prospect John Dato joins Mark Magsayo as the two Filipinos fighting in the undercard of the Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas fight on Aug. 22 (PH time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dato takes on Angel Contreras in a six-round lightweight bout.

Dato, a native of La Union but now currently residing in California, makes his ring return from a two-year hiatus. He last fought in 2019 with a fifth round knockout of David Godinez.

Contreras, on the other hand, just recently fought a few months back. He settled for a split draw with undefeated Jalan Walker on April 22, 2021.

Dato is 14-0-1 with nine knockouts, while Contreras is 10-4-2 with six knockouts.

On the other hand, Magsayo (22-0, 15 KOs) is taking on former world champion Julio Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KOs) in one of the fights in the main card.

Magsayo is now on the verge of a world title shot and a win over Ceja would further boost his chances.

Magsayo is currently ranked No. 3 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and No. 5 in both the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight division. (EKA)
