Diagan, Paciones victorious in Vietnam; Zamora wins in US

GAREN Diagan dethroned hometown hero World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia minimumweight champion Huu Toan Le on March 25 at the Saigon Sports Club in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

Diagan fought Le in a very close and entertaining battle. At the end of the fight, Diagan escaped highly favored Le and was crowned the winner.

Diagan is now 10-3 with five knockouts, while Le suffered his first career defeat and dropped to 6-1 with three knockouts.

In the same show, 18-year-old Vietnam-based Pinoy prospect Arvin Jhon Paciones remained undefeated with a second round stoppage of Thai Sarawut Jiamthong.

Paciones moved up to 4-0 with three knockouts, while Jiamthong suffered his third straight loss and dropped to 7-4 with seven knockouts.

On the other hand, 19-year-old Filipino-American sensation Demler Zamora remained unbeaten following a third round technical knockout of previously undefeated Jesus Abel Ibarra last March 26 (PH time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Zamora improved to 11-0 with nine knockouts, while Ibarra fell to 15-1 with seven knockouts. (EKA)
