Dormakaba upsets Toyota Mabolo in 2019 Corporate Cup

LOWER-seeded Filmon/Dormakaba took the last semifinals spot in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Club Corporate Cup 2019 after overcoming a twice-to-beat disadvantage against Toyota Mabolo.

Filmon/Dormakaba beat Toyota Mabolo, 65-53, in the do-or-die quarterfinals game on June 15, 2019 at the University of San Carlos (USC) main campus gym.

Kimkim Rebosura stepped up when the team needed him the most after former MVP Ayi Armenion had an off night with just four points. Rebosura went off with 18 points, eight rebounds and a block.

He had huge help with an effective performance by veteran big Elmer Laguna, who had 15 points and seven rebounds from 6-out-of-11 shooting from the field.

Toyota Mabolo, which played with just six players, was led by Carlito Milagroso, who scored 20 on top of seven rebounds. Alain Lim added 13 points, while Neilfred Bacus chipped in 12.

Filmon/Dormakaba outclassed Toyota Mabolo, 72-59, in their first quarterfinals game the other weekend.

Filmon/Dormakaba, the fifth-ranked squad, takes on No. 1 seed Island Paints, while No. 2 seed Phoenix Building System locks horns with Thinking Tools in the semifinals. (EKA)
