Popular Cebuano guard Eloy Poligrates will no longer be playing for Alza Alayon Zamboanga Del Sur in the upcoming Mindanao leg of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup after he encountered a personal problem during his time there.

The 33-year old confirmed this development in a brief talk on Wednesday night. Although the former PBA D-League Most Valuable Player did not offer much in the way of specifics, he did say he was moving back to Cebu on Thursday, thus ending his VisMin Cup stint long before it could even get started.

The development is an unfortunate one for the beloved guard from Poro, who was seeking to continue his basketball career after he got embroiled in a controversial case involving his ex-girlfriend last year.

The former Southwestern University star was soon taken in by Alza Alayon Zamboanga Del Sur to give them a scoring lift and veteran experience in the backcourt. However, his absence this close to the Mindanao leg’s opening will prove to be a headache to head coach Bong Abad, who won’t have much time to look for a replacement. (JNP)
