Football: PHL out of contention in AFF U19

THE Philippines is out of contention in the Asean Football Federation Under-19 Championship after a 5-0 beating in the hands of Thailand at the Gelora Delta Stadium in Surabaya, Indonesia. Korawich Tasa scored a hat-trick for Thailand, hitting the back of the net in the 37th, 55th and 84th minutes. Pithak Phaphirom scored a goal in the 61st and Narakorn Noomchansakool hit his mark in the 63rd. The Philippines dropped to fifth place in Group A with three points and just one more match remaining against Laos. On the other hand, the Malditas also suffered a lopsided 5-0 Vietnam in the AFF Women’s Championship in Palembang, Indonesia. The Philippines is in third place with three points with still two matches left in Group B. (EKA)
