CHRIS Gavina has been announced as the new head coach of the Rain or Shine E-Painters as he replaces former head coach Caloy Garcia.

The team made the announcement on their social media pages just two weeks before the all-important PBA Rookie Draft.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Chris Gavina as Rain or Shine’s Head Coach. He brings with him several years of experience as a coach in both the PBA and MPBL,” Rain or Shine’s message on its Facebook page read.

The 42-year-old Gavina has been an assistant of Garcia for the last three seasons. He previously was the head coach of the Kia team in 2016. He also was head coach with Valenzuela and then Bacoor in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. He led the Strikers to the South Division’s semifinals where they lost to Basilan.

Garcia, though, will not be going anywhere, as he remains the team’s head of basketball operations. He will also be an active consultant.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
