THE Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 uncorked a late rally against unbeaten France but ultimately fell short, 14-15, in their final game in the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Graz, Austria on Friday night.

France was already ahead, 12-5, with just two minutes remaining when the Filipinos suddenly came alive, with Joshua Munzon and CJ Perez spearheading the comeback that put them within three, 11-14. Cebuano Leonard Santillan had a shot to help the Gilas pull closer but split his free-throws to make it 12-14.

France’s 3x3 veteran Raphael Wilson then put the game away with a basket inside as the Filipinos now head home without a single win to their name. Munzon canned a three-pointer right before time expired to make the final score seem a lot closer than it really was.

Munzon led Gilas with seven points while Perez had five. Santillan put up two as the Gilas ended their stint with a 0-4 win-loss record in Pool C. (JNP)
