Jumamil, Justiniane win 8080 tri

PAUL Jumamil of Tri SND Barracuda and Marie Flor Justiniane were crowned the men’s and women’s overall champions in the 8080 Triathlon in the Municipality of San Remigio, Cebu. Jumamil breasted the tape in 3 hours, 30 minutes and 33 seconds, while Justiniane crossed the finish line in 4:46:02 on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 10.

The Bohol-native Jumamil overwhelmed the field, finishing the 1.9-kilometer swim, 65K bike and 14K run race with about a 20-minute cushion from the male chasers. Ralph Martin Sios-E of Team Subzero Light finished second overall with a time of 3:50:02 followed by John Paul Juson of Lycans in 3:53:06 for third place.

In the women’s division, Justiniane also took the lead after the swim segment and did not look back. She came out of the water in 54:47, finished the bike portion in 2:21:09 and the run part in 1:26:18. Zusette Co finished at second place in 4:59:13 and May Anne Mares settled for third place in 5:18:48. (RSC)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit.
