THE third season of Metro Cebu Basketball League (MCBL) Recreational Division kicks off on Aug. 12 in the City Sports Club Cebu.

A total of 55 teams play against each other in seven brackets. Teams in each bracket will play in a single round robin format. The top two teams per bracket advance to the Sweet 16 knockout phase, with two lottery spots for eliminated squads.

“Expect a lot of passion from the teams and pride. Because I think the teams are evenly-matched this year because of the no-varsity ruling and the height limit,” MCBL organizer Jax Bautista told SunStar Cebu.

Only players under six feet tall are eligible to play in the Recreational Division. Ex-pros, current pros, college varsities and ex-college varsities are also not allowed to play in the tournament.

The tournament, sponsored by Wilson, Rad Teamwear, Tanduay Athletics, Cobra Energy Drink, First Five Sports Bar and Cafe, Dia De Spa, Stylings and Jreese Avenue, will be played every Saturday and Sunday. (EKA)
