After a spectacular debut in the PBA Philippine Cup finals, Mikey Williams will be looking for an encore come Game Two as the TNT Tropang Giga try to take a 2-0 lead over the Magnolia Hotshots on Friday evening at the DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Williams scored 21 points, highlighted by five three-pointers in the second period that helped push TNT to the breakaway win. He also had 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals in what was a superb performance.

However, the fourth pick of this year’s PBA Draft was quick to point out that Game One is done and they have to now focus on the next game of the best-of-seven showdown with the veteran-laden Hotshots.

“We have to shift our focus now to Game Two and get ready, prepare and make sure that we kind of cut out all the little, tacky fouls that we’ve been doing, not trying to be over-aggressive or overzealous,” Williams said.

“I’m definitely going to get back to the drawing board and figure out things that I can do to kind of neutralize the pressure that they’re putting on us, and just be more effective and just definitely take care of the ball,” he added.

Finally freed from the shackles of San Miguel’s outstanding guard, Chris Ross, Williams said this performance definitely lifts his confidence up a bit, and will help him for the remaining games in the series.

“It’s definitely a confidence booster. You know, my up-and-down play in the San Miguel series, just trying to come in and continue to assert myself as best as I can to help my team at the end of the day,” he said. (JNP)
