Minglanilla extends unbeaten run to 3

THE Minglanilla Archangels brought down the Sibonga Pillars, 101-92, in the Gullas Cup 2020 at the Minglanilla Sports Complex on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.

The Archangels actually started slow and trailed, 20-26, after the first canto. However, Minglanilla was able to find its groove and uncorked a 22-10 run in the second to take the driver’s seat, 42-36. Sibonga tried to keep it close but Minglanilla pulled away in the fourth to take the win and push their win-loss record to a perfect 3-0.

Alvier Alforque led Minglanilla with 27 points, five assists and three steals while Patrick Dobleros added 23 markers and four steals. Acer Go was equally lethal for Minglanilla as he compiled 19 points, seven boards and five steals.

Sibonga was led by the 24 points of Ehman Suarez but it was not enough to keep them from falling to 1-2.

In the other game, the Carcar Lechoneros got past the San Fernando Spartans, 81-73, to improve to 2-1. Rey Alfeche lorded over the shaded lane with his 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Lechoneros banked on a sizzling 24-12 third period run to give them the lead for good. The Spartan fell to a 1-2 record. (JNP)
