NLEX gunner Larry Fonacier opts out PBA 'bubble'

Sunnexdesk

The NLEX Road Warriors will not have veteran two-guard Larry Fonacier in the restart of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) after the Ateneo product begged off of playing in the “bubble” setting, citing health matters in his family.

The development unraveled on Monday night as Fonacier became the first player to opt out of playing in the Philippine Cup once it restarts on October 9.

Fonacier has already spoken to the team regarding his situation and has gotten the blessing of head coach Yeng Guiao. The 38-year has also not been participating in the team’s training sessions.

Guiao has emphasized that any player on his team who has similar concerns is free to opt out of playing in the “bubble” setting especially since they have to stay in Pampanga for two straight months.

Fonacier’s absence will place a lot more responsibility on the backcourt of Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas as well as rookie guard Mike Ayonayon. (JNP)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
