THE NorthPort Batang Pier rode the all-around play of versatile big man Christian Standhardinger to down the TerraFirma Dyip, 107-96, and capture their first win of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the AUF Sports Arena & Cultural Center.

With the team’s ace forward Sean Anthony was sitting out because of an injured hamstring, Standhardinger stepped up and had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds to go with five assists to push the Batang Pier up to 1-4 for the season.

Standhardinger got help from NorthPort’s bench as Garvo Lañete, Renzo Subido and Kelly Nabong all scored in double-figures. Nabong had 18 points and eight rebounds, Lañete added 14 while Subido tallied 12 points and five assists.

CJ Perez once again led TerraFirma with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists as the Dyip remained winless this season at 0-4.

The Dyip put up a solid fight as they were within five, 90-95, with 3:21 to go. But Subido and Nabong drained three straight three-pointers to bring NorthPort’s lead back to 14, 104-90, and put the game away with just 1:40 left in the match. (JNP)
