Omar routs Punta, makes playoffs

OMAR Basketball clinched a spot in the playoffs after it upended Punta Princesa, 52-28, in Under-12 Division 1 action in the MVP Sports Foundation Youth Basketball League Cebu at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along General Maxilom Avenue on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.

The writing was already on the wall as early as the first half as Omar built a 22-7 halftime lead. Eriac Estalani led the way for Omar with 16 points and three rebounds, while John Paul Gequilan added 12 points, three boards and two assists to help Omar to a 3-1 win-loss record.

Also making the next round is Don Bosco, which routed the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 50-35. Don Bosco established its dominance early and raced off to a whopping 22-2 lead after the first period to set the tone for the lopsided match.

Aldrin Prudenciado had 18 points, four rebounds and three assists for Don Bosco which improved to a perfect 3-0. The team also got 15 points and 12 rebounds from Xian Garcia.

In the Under-15 Division 1 class, Day-as disposed of Punta Princesa, 65-42, while Sisters of Mary School-Boystown escaped the D Rabens A, 52-45. John Paul Lozanao led Boystown with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists while Napie Gallo added 11 markers. (JNP)
