Pacquiao beats Broner, defends WBA belt

(UPDATED) -- Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao successfully defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight belt with a one-sided unanimous decision over Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Sunday, January 20 (Philippine time).

The 40-year-old Pacquiao dominated Broner and got the nod of all three judges with scores of 117-111, 116-110 and 116-110.

Pacquiao improved to 61-7-2 with 39 knockouts, while the 29-year-old Broner dropped to 33-4-1 with 24 knockouts.

Pacquiao said after the fight that he is open to a rematch with Floyd Mayweather if the latter intends to return to the ring.

Pacquiao lost to Mayweather by unanimous decision back in 2015.
