Padawan wins BTA October tournament

THE former Sinulog Open champion Aui Padawan snagged one of the last three slots for the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) Bowler of the Month competition.

Padawan clinched the slot after escaping with a win over Hadji Bacaral for the BTA-Prima Monthly Open Tournament title at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad, Cebu City last Sunday, Oct. 28.

The 8-handicapper Padawan finished the six-game series with a total score of 1,220, beating 8-handicapper Bacaral by a narrow one-point cushion. Padawan scored rounds of 238, 169, 191, 213, 192 and 162, while Bacaral tallied rounds of 225, 190, 179, 205, 168 and 204.

Clarence Tiu scored 1,202 for third place, Luke Bolongan carded 1,162 for fourth place and BTA president Bel Suelto fired 1,134 for fifth place.

Padawan will join the other qualifiers in Wilbert Yu (January), Clifford Tan (February), Egay Alqueza (March), Suelto (April), Chirstopher Garcia (May), Wilbert Yu (June), Arthur Tapaya (July), Ed Aniñon (August) and Vivian Padawan (September). (RSC)
