Philippines guns for third place in Street Child World Cup

THE Philippines guns for third place in the Girls Division of the 2018 Street Child World Cup against England in Moscow, Russia today.

The Philippines came close to making it to the finals in a competitive semifinal match with defending champion Brazil.

With the match up for grabs, Brazil scored a late goal to win it, 1-0, over the Philippines.

England, in the meantime, dropped its semifinal match against Tanzania, 1-2.

The Philippines started its campaign with an impressive 6-0 beating of India in Group C.

Philippines settled for a 1-1 draw with England in its other Group C match, where both teams advanced to the quarterfinals.

The Philippines beat Mauritius, 1-0, in the quarterfinals, while England defeated Bolivia, 2-0, before losing their respective semifinal matches.

The Philippines vs. England battle-for-third place match is at 3 p.m. today.

The Philippines has two Cebuano booters in the roster - Margie and Trisha.

The Philippines Street Child World Cup team is sponsored by Nivea.
