Poligrates adds firepower to Rizal

AFTER struggling to land a team this year, Cebuano basketball player Eloy Poligrates finally got the break he has been looking for after he was signed up by Rizal in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

It has been a tumultuous 2020 so far for the Poro-native after he got embroiled in a physical abuse scandal involving his former girlfriend. He was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing during that incident and was set to rejoin his team in the PBA D-League, Marinerong Pilipino.

Surprisingly, he was cut by the Skippers, leaving him with no team to play for until Rizal came calling.

“I’m very happy and I’m going to show that there’s something left on my tank,” said the former pro who was drafted by Talk N Text.

This is the third MPBL team that Poligrates will be playing for. He got his first shot in the MPBL with his hometown Cebu Sharks last year but the two amicably parted midway through the season.

Poligrates eventually signed on to play for Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup and led the Skippers to the finals where they fell to the BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare Saints.

Poligrates however, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. (JNP)
