Sharks fall short vs. Biñan heroes

THE Cebu Sharks fell to the Biñan City Laguna Heroes, 83-81, in overtime in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2019-2020 Lakan Season at the Pasig Sports Complex on July 3, 2019.

The Heroes came into the fourth quarter with an eight-point lead but the Sharks cut it down with the duo Patrick Cabahug and Rhaffy Octobre.

Victor Nuñez sent the game into overtime by tying the game at 73-73 with a free throw.

Cebu had a strong performance and had the lead late in the overtime period. However, Kyle Neypes and Allan Mangahas took over the game and won it for Biñan City Laguna.

Mangahas finished off Cebu with a floater with just two ticks remaining.

Cabahug had a chance to win but he missed his three coming off a timeout.

Mangahas was two assists shy of a triple-double with 24 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Mark Acosta had 13, while Neypes added 12.

Cabahug led Cebu with 24 markers, while William McAloney tallied a double-double with 17 points and 19 boards. Octobre chipped in 18 points and nine rebounds.

Cebu dropped to 2-2, while Biñan City Laguna won back-to-back contests and improved to 2-2. (EKA)
