Sista beats Pioneer ProTibay, captures PBA 3x3 third leg title

Jonas N. Panerio

THE Rain or Shine’s Sista Super Sealers defeated the Pioneer ProTibay, 21-13, to come away with the championship in the third leg of the PBA 3x3 Lakas ng Tatlo on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021 at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The title was a fitting end for the dominant showing of Sista in the third leg as they went all the way without suffering a single loss. In the finals, Kenneth Mocon led the way with nine points while RJ Argamino added six. Prince Rivero and Leo de Vera combined for five as the Rain or Shine franchise snagged the P100,000 cash prize.

It was a back-and-forth battle early on until Sista unleashed a sizzling 11-1 blast that put them in front, 18-7, with just 1:56 left in the match. Argamino then hit a two-ball to put Sista within a point of clinching the title. However, Pioneer relented and cobbled together a mini-run to make things interesting. Sista, though, shut the door on the comeback attempt and clinched the crown.

Gian Abrigo paced Pioneer with six points. It was a gallant run for Sista, which ousted Platinum Karaoke, 21-19, in the quarterfinals and then, beat the top-seeded Terrafirma, 16-15, in the semifinals to book their spot in the finals.

Terrafirma claimed third place with a 21 -16 win over the Tender Juicy Giants. The squad composed of Matt Salem, Terrence Tumalip, Dhon Reverente and Jebb Bulawan pledged their cash prize of P30,000 to the family of teammate, Roider Cabrera, who remains hospitalized after collapsing in the dugout in the second leg of this competition.
