The PBA 3x3 will have six non-PBA squads that are expected to give the mainstays a run for their money.

Heading the roster is none other than the Zamboanga Valientes—a Mindanao-based team that has won several titles in the Champions League 3x3 in Australia. Also slated to compete are Master Sardines, Big Boss Cement, Geanaux, Pioneer Adhesive and Phenom BRT Sumisip.

These teams are expected to add more flavor to the league’s 3x3 tournament, which aims to boost the sport’s profile in the country.

"They're all excited and eagerly look forward to the PBA 3x3 kickoff. I expect them to provide thrill and excitement along with the other teams," said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on the league’s official website.

The six non-PBA squads will battle the likes of San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra, Magnolia, TNT Tropang Giga, Meralco, NLEX, NorthPort, Phoenix Pulse, TerraFirma and Rain or Shine in the competition that will tip off in August. Alaska will not be competing since Alaska top official Dicky Bachmann is the PBA 3x3 head while Blackwater begged off from the competition.

The PBA is targeting to have four legs in Season 46 as the league hopes to raise more awareness for the sport and help the Philippines achieve more success on the international stage. (JNP)
