Suarez faces Canada on May 1

Edri Aznar

OLYMPIAN Charly Suarez’s fight was pushed back to a later date against a different opponent in a different venue.

Suarez will now face club fighter Pablito Canada in the main event of “A Warrior’s Call” on May 1 at the Urdaneta Cultural and Sports Center in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

The 32-year-old Suarez, who represented the Philippines in the 2016 Olympics, was originally slated to fight against Lorence Rosas last April 24 in Paniqui, Tarlac.

Canada was originally scheduled to fight against Jon Jon Estrada on the same card.

Suarez is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision win over Estrada on Feb. 13 in Paniqui, Tarlac.

Canada should be an easy tune-up fight for Suarez, who’s very impressive so far in the pro ranks.

Canada lost two of his last three contests and hasn’t fought since losing to Ryoskuke Nishida by unanimous decision.

Suarez is 6-0 with four knockouts, while the 26-year-old Canada is 7-18-4 with a knockout.

Richard Pumicpic (21-11-2, 6 KOs) trades leathers with fellow experienced fighter Landy Cris Leon (13-21-5, 6 Kos) in the main supporting bout.

In the undercard, Arnel Baconaje (11-4, 9 KOs) slugs it out with Jay Lloyd Quidlat (4-1-2, 2 KOs), Lorenz Ladrada (8-1-1, 2 KOs) faces off with Marklin Itim (2-4), Roy Sumugat (10-11-1, 4 KOs) takes on Eljohn Evangilista (4-3, 1 KO), Jover Amistoso (1-0) squares off with newcomer Noli James Maquilan, and Franco Serafica (4-1, 2 KOs) is up against Mark Anthony Rotilles.
