TYPHOON Tisoy made landfall on the southeastern part of Luzon on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, and has caused delay on some games in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) announced the postponement of some games as confirmed by the SEA Games technical delegates and competition managers.

Most outdoor events affected by the typhoon were postponed. These include beach volleyball, shooting, skateboarding, underwater hockey, petanque, sepak takraw, canoe/kayak, muay thai and surfing. The venues of these games are in Metro Manila, southern Luzon, and Pampanga.

The rest of the sporting events have continued.

The typhoon did not stop the Filipino athletes from soaring as the host country pad its lead in the overall medal tally.

Team PH was well ahead from the other nations, racking up 41 gold medals, 24 silvers and 15 bronzes as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Vietnam was far behind with 18 golds, 24 silvers and 18 bronzes, while Indonesia garnered 11 golds, 14 silvers and 13 bronzes to stay within Top 3. (SunStar Cebu)
