Sunnexdesk

THE University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters survived the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers, 94-93, to win the 2019 Captain Kirk Bryan/St. Agustine Cup Inter-collegiate basketball tournament at the Inayawan Sports Complex on Aug. 14, 2019.

The Webmasters were just seconds away from the victory when the USPF Panthers managed to steal the ball, giving them the perfect opportunity to steal the win.

However, the reverse layup by the Panthers merely kissed the ring as time expired, giving the Webmasters a breather and the crowd an unforgettable ending.

Shane Menina, who had 26 points for the Webmasters, was named the Most Valuable Player. The team also earned P30,000, while the Panthers got P20,000.

The one-week tournament also served as the college teams final tuneup before the opening of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. regular season on Aug. 31. (JBM of Superbalita Cebu)
