THE already loaded backcourt of the Zamboanga City Valientes added even more firepower with the inclusion of Letran Knights star Fran Yu as the team gets set for the Mindanao leg of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

The sparkplug guard arrived in Zamboanga City on Wednesday, May 12, to join the team’s preparation for the Mindanao tournament, which is slated to tip off on May 30.

Yu brings with him some very impressive credentials. He was the NCAA Season 95’s men’s basketball Most Improved Player and its Finals Most Valuable Player after leading the Knights to a stunning upset of the powerhouse San Beda Red Lions.

Yu will join Zamboanga City’s backcourt that already has former PBA players Rudy Lingganay, Gino Jumao-as, Jonathan Parreño, Jaypee Belencion and “Captain Hook” himself, Mark Cardona. (JNP)
