HOMEGROWN restaurant, Penong’s, plans to open its first international branch in Singapore.

Penong’s Franchising Corporation vice president for operations Henry Mahilum told media on October 12 in a press conference that the Singapore franchise branch will be opened by local businessman Bong Flores.

“But before he opens the Singapore store, we agreed to first open his branch here in Davao City, which will be located in GMall Toril and is scheduled to be launched on Sunday, October 20,” he said.

He added this move is to ensure the franchisee is well-equipped in managing a branch here before expanding overseas. A Penong’s franchise costs about P7 to P8 million.

For the soon-to-open Singapore branch, Mahilum said, chicken will be sourced from Singapore, only ingredients for marination and mixes will be provided by Penong’s.

Mahilum said their monthly consumption of chicken reaches 80 tons nationwide.

“We doubled our consumption with the increase of branches. We have an abundant supply here, so it is not a problem,” he said.

Mahilum added they only source fresh chicken, not frozen to maintain quality.

“Maybe, Penong’s grew bigger because we continuously serve our clients with high quality products, excellent services, and cleanliness and condition of each restaurant,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Penong’s has also opened a Halal-friendly branch in Kabacan, North Cotabato last October 12.

Penong’s currently has 39 branches nationwide. It eyes to open five more branches before the year ends in Valencia City, Pasay City (SM by the Bay – SM Mall of Asia), Dumaguete City, SM City Gensan, and Davao City – Maa.
